Title:
GENE REINFORCING IRON-TRANSPORTING CAPACITY OF PLANT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2007215402
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a gene encoding a carrier protein specifically transporting iron without being inhibited by metals even in the presence of the metals such as cadmium, etc., and a plant transformed by the gene and growing healthily by absorbing the iron for its growth sufficiently even in the presence of the metals such as cadmium and reduced with the accumulated amount of cadmium, and also to provide a method for performing environment restoration by using such the transformed plant.

This gene encoding the protein consisting of a specific amino acid sequence derived from Athyrium yokoscense, or an amino acid sequence obtained by deleting, substituting or adding one or several amino acids in the above amino acid sequence and functioning as an iron-transporting carrier is provided. By using the gene, the plant is transformed. Also, by transforming a plant having cadmium-accumulating function with the above gene and obtaining a hyper accumulator, the environmental restoration is performed.
