Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid discoloration and reduction in luminance by flashing a getter by arranging the getter in an attitude where diffusing direction of enclosed active metal turns to the side of a funnel in close vicinity to the getter.
SOLUTION: In a getter 20, a vessel 24 in which active metal 26 is enclosed is installed in one end part of a belt-like support member 22, and the other end is installed on the outside of a shielding cup 9 of an electron gun 8. The getter 20 is arranged so that an anode arranging funnel surface is positioned in a central part of an adjacent surface. The active metal 26 inserted into the vessel of the getter 20 is evaporated/diffused to the funnel side by getter flashing, and does not stick to a shadow mask or a fluorescent screen of a panel. Even in a small cathode ray tube (for example, a 10-inch or 6-inch cathode-ray tube), since the active metal does not stick to the shadow mask at all, a rainbow-shaped color bar by interference does not appear on an image screen.
