Abstract:
PURPOSE: To considerably correctly position a gimbals point and a load point member which are important to achieve a stationary posture-compensating turn, by using considerably correct etching or etching/molding.
CONSTITUTION: A gimbals 50 is manufactured by etching of a flat plate of stainless steel or the like. A head assembly 30 has a transducer 32 and is mounted on a slider 34 having a first primary surface 36 of an air bearing at the side of a disk. The slider 34 has a second primary surface opposite to the first surface and fitted to a platform 60. The gimbals 50 is arranged at the front end of a load beam 22 and provided with a spring arm 52 supporting the platform 60 above a central opening. The platform 60 is a flat member with a first surface 62 and a second surface. The surface 62 has an etching projection 66 projecting at the center of the platform 60. The projection 66 is a turning point in a pitch axis and a roll axis of an HSA. The turning point is an actual intersection of the pitch and roll motion axes, agreeing with an intersection of pitch and roll axes of the slider 34.
