Abstract:
To provide an expansion graphite gland packing having small slide resistance and good seal performance.
A cord-shaped gland packing is formed into a cord-shaped unit by braid-over braiding the periphery of center core material 3 by first/ second braiding yarn 1, 2. In the first braiding yarn 1, the periphery of an expansion graphite-made tape is coated with a reinforcing fiber. In the second braiding yarn 2, carbon fiber or the like or its periphery is coated with a metal wire. The second braiding yarn or the cord-shaped unit may be impregnated with a lubricant. The second braiding yarn is suited for 20 to 80 wt.% the whole braiding yarn.
