PURPOSE: To solve problems of conventional glass-lining material and to offer such a glass-coated metal material in a high level of surface qualities such as surface smoothness and anti-melting property, and thereby, the glass coated material can be suitably used as a structural material such as structural material for fine chemicals which requires no melting away nor contamination but high surface qualities such as surface smoothness and anti-melting property.

CONSTITUTION: The glass-coated metal material consists of a metal base, glass lining layer formed on this metal, and a vitreous coating layer formed by applying and calcining a mixture of soln. containing an org. metal compd. and fine inorg. powder of ≤1μm particle diameter.
