PURPOSE: To obtain a glass material containing a wood grain pattern and excellent decorative effect by combining glass plates having different colors or appearances, placing a number of the combined glass sheets on a bottom plate and keeping the laminate between the softening point and the melting point of the glass to effect the softening and mutual welding of the plates.

CONSTITUTION: Glass plates or crystalline glass plates having different colors or appearances are combined with each other or a glass plate is combined with a crystalline glass plate. A number of the combined glass plates are placed on a bottom plate having a surface of flat form, trough form, saddle form, corrugated form or desired irregularly curved form. The stacked plates are maintained at a temperature above the softening point and below the melting point of the glass to soften and deform the glass plate to a form same as the surface of the bottom plate and, at the same time, to mutually weld or weld and crystallize the glass plate to obtain an integrated glass material containing a wood grain pattern. The glass material is suitable as a highquality building material, furniture material, etc.
