Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a long-term service of a glass melting furnace.
SOLUTION: The furnace is equipped with a furnace body 16 which can reserve molten glass G, an outer shell 21 with a cooling jacket 33 surrounding the furnace body 16 and electrodes 22 whose lower end parts can be soaked in the molten glass G in the furnace body 16. A cooling medium is fed to the cooling jacket 33 and a glass coagulation layer S is formed between the furnace body 16 and the molten glass G to avoid the corrosion of the furnace body 16 caused by the molten glass G.
