Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent narrowing of glass pieces by extruding the glass pieces put between cutters, by a method wherein a spacer is projected outward with turning centrifugal force by mounting the spacer slidable in a diametral direction between the cutter blades adjoining peripherally. CONSTITUTION:A press roll 12 guides a glass roving A between a cutter roll 10 and rubber roll 11. Cutter blades 13 are provided peripherally on an outer circumferential surface of the cutter roll 10 at equal pitches and a movable spacer 14 is provided on a position in the middle of the cutter blade 13. A press part 20a controls further projection of the movable spacer 14 by abutting against stepped parts 14 on both ends at the time when the movable spacer 14 is projected with turning centrifugal force and gravity. The glass roving put between the cutter blades 13 is extruded outward with the movable spacer 14 which is projected away with the turning centrifugal force. Therefore, the glass roving is accumulated between the cutter blades, which is dropped at a time and generation of irregularity in the distribution ratio of the glass can be prevented.
