Abstract:
To provide novel coating compositions having enhanced gloss retention properties, methods of reducing the exposure of earth's atmosphere to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) while forming protective coatings on substrates, and coating compositions used in such methods.SOLUTION: Protective coating compositions comprise (i) fluorocopolymers obtained by the copolymerization of hydrofluoroolefin monomers selected from hydrofluoroethylenes, hydrofluoropropenes, hydrofluorobutenes, and hydrofluoropentenes, vinyl ester monomers, and vinyl ether monomers, (ii) a VOC-containing carrier for fluorocopolymers, and (iii) a stabilizing agent comprising a radical scavenger and an absorber of UV light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
