Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease a current leaking to a cylinder block through a base body and a housing.SOLUTION: A glow plug is equipped with a heater and a housing. The heater is equipped with a base body, and a heat generation body. The base body is made by ceramic, and extends in an axial direction. The heat generation body is embedded in the base body, and generates at a part near its tip end by energization. The housing holds the heater while exposing a tip end side of the heater including the part near the tip end of the heat generation body, and contacts with the cylinder block when being attached to an internal combustion engine. A distance from a position having the highest temperature on an outer surface of the base body when the heat generation body generates heat, to the most tip end position of a part where the base body and the housing are contacted, is 7 mm or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
