Abstract:
To suppress an electrolytic reaction between a terminal and a metal shell of a glow plug.SOLUTION: A glow plug 1 is formed by combining a main metal shell 3, a middle shaft 5, a ceramic heater 7 (a heating element), an insulator 9, an O-ring 11, an outer cylinder 13, and a pin terminal 15 (a metal member). The insulator 9 includes a base material 71 and a first coating layer 73 provided on the surface of the base material 71. The first coating layer 73 is formed at least on an exposed surface 69A of the insulator 9, which is exposed to the outside. Even if a droplet tends to adhere to the exposed surface 69A of the insulator 9, the droplet is repelled by the first coating layer 73. Accordingly, it is inhibited that the insulation resistance between the pin terminal 15 and the main metal shell 3 lowers extremely, and as a result, an electrolytic reaction, which may occur between the pin terminal 15 and the main metal shell 3, is inhibited.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
