Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method with which adhesive is transferred by a glue application roller onto the book spine of a book block without any manual intervention and independently of the spine shape of the book block.SOLUTION: A glue application roller body 200 comprises at least two members. The glue application roller body 200 includes a base 104 directly connected to a drive shaft 103a operatively by frictional fit on one hand and an outer ring configured with at least one hollow chamber 106 on the other hand. The base 104 and the outer ring are coupled to each other by frictional fit via at least one means, wherein, on at least one side of the glue roller body 200, the drive shaft 103a has means in the center or almost in the center, which ensures that compressed air 123 is fed or discharged so as to effectuate a change in a circumferential contour of the hollow chamber 106 of the outer ring of the glue application roller body 200.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
