PURPOSE: To permit the spot glues applied to wrap paper to pass between each crest of a sawtoothed guide at the time of wrapping the wrap paper around an article by detecting the forward end of the wrap paper in the moving direction and permitting a glue gun to inject the glues at the intervals equivalent to the crest pitch of the sawtoothed guide after the lapse of a predetermined time from the start of the wrap paper passage.
CONSTITUTION: In a gluing mechanism of a packaging apparatus wherein a glue gun 12 injects glues B to apply the same to the inner surface of one edge of wrap paper 1 while it is traveling horizontally at a constant speed, the movement of the wrap paper stops immediately above a boxlike article 3 extended above a sawtoothed guide 9, the boxlike article 3 is moved upward until its upper surface is brought into contact with the lower surface of the central part of the wrap paper 1 and the glued parts are caused to pass over the sawtoothed guide 9 for wrapping the wrap paper around the article, the aforesaid mechanism comprises a speed detecting means 6 for sensing the moving speed of the wrap paper 1, a sensor 14 located upstream the glue gun 12 in the wrap paper moving direction for sensing the passage starting time of the wrap paper 1 and a glue injection control means 7 for reading the wrap paper moving speed and for sending operation starting signals to the glue gun 12 intermittently at the intervals equivalent to the crest pitch of the sawtoothed guide 9 after the lapse of a predetermined time from the start of the wrap paper passage detected by the sensor.
