Title:
GOLF BALL AND METHOD OF POSITIONING DIMPLE ON THE SURFACE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05200131
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a golf ball having on its surface dimples that can provide unique aerodynamic symmetry around the ball surface so that a good ball fly can be obtained uniformly irrespective of the position of the ball on a tee. CONSTITUTION: A ball main body is divided into two hemispheres having dimpled surfaces and having substantially the same dimple pattern in the arrangements of the dimples. An undimpled equatorial line is formed on the ball main body. In the dimple pattern of each hemisphere, (i) a plurality of first dimples extending along at least two spaced clockwise arcs 13, 15, 17, 19 between the pole P and equator E-E of each hemisphere, (ii) a plurality of second dimples extending along at least two spaced counterclockwise arcs 21, 23, 25, 27 between the pole and equator of each hemisphere, and (iii) a plurality of third dimples substantially filling the surface area between the first and second plural number of dimples are arranged.
