Abstract:
This disclosure provides a golf ball (400) that is configured to be capable of changing its dimple (102) depth. Changing the dimple depth of at least one of the plurality of dimples affects the aerodynamic properties of the golf ball, such that the play characteristics of the golf ball can be customized. The golf ball may be changed from a first configuration (412) having deeper dimples to a second configuration (414) having shallower dimples. Also provided is a method of customizing a golf ball, the method including the steps of possessing a golf ball that is in accordance with this disclosure and then inducing a mutable portion of the golf ball's cover layer to change the dimple depth.
