Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new graft copolymer which has a high degree of freedom of design and to which desired properties can be easily imparted and to provide a process for producing the same.
SOLUTION: A polymerizable composition comprising a compound (I) having a radical-polymerizable double bond and a peroxy bond, a polymerizable monomer (II), and a photoinitiator (III) is irradiated with light in a temp. range in which the compound (I) undergoes no pyrolysis. Thus, the compound (I) is radical-polymerized with the monomer (II). Subsequently, a polymerizable monomer (IV) different from the monomer (II) is added to the composition. This mixture is heated to a temp. range in which the compound (I) undergoes pyrolysis. Thus, the monomer (IV) is radical-polymerized to produce the objective graft copolymer.
