PURPOSE: To obtain a granular alkylphenol resistant to coagulation and to provide a process for producing the alkylphenol.
CONSTITUTION: This granular alkylphenol is a product of sphere or flat-sphere particles having an average major diameter of 3-6mm, an average minor diameter of 2-5mm and an average crushing strength of 0.2-2.5kgw/granule. The objective production method comprises the process in which a powdery or flat alkyl phenol is charged into a pair of rolls having half-spherical or flat half-spherical dents on their surfaces, and the alkyl phenol is bitten into the dents by the rotation of the rollers and compressed into spherical or flat spherical particles. Accordingly, the process has little trouble of powder formation in handling such as transfer, etc. Further, the product has such merits as that it is resistant to coagulation during storage and almost dispenses with a crushing work, and it is excellent in dischargeability from a flexible-container bag, etc., and quickly dissolved in a solvent when it is used.
