To provide a granulation apparatus which has a long life and produces, stably for a long time, slag particles with a particle size distribution aimed at; and a granulation method using the apparatus.
In the granulation apparatus whereby fused slag is granulated and solidified with a rotary disk, a plurality of mountain-like refractory-made bumps are formed on the upper face of the disk brought into contact with the fused slag. The bumps are arranged in the circumferential direction of the disk and each bump becomes higher along the radial direction from the inside to the outside. The slope declining from the ridge of the bump to the direction of the rotation of the disk along the circumferential direction is made gentler than the slope declining to the reverse direction of the rotation. By rotating the disk and simultaneously causing the fused slag to flow down to the central part of the disk, the fused slag is scattered by the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the disk.
