PURPOSE: To obtain the desired display according to the pattern, by covering the specified location on the charge transfer device providing a number of unit cells being the photo detection section with the graphic pattern using the material blocking incident light, and causing carrier to the cells exposed with the emission of light on the device.
CONSTITUTION: Unit cells 11 to 90 are provided with the charge transfer device using silicon as the substrate, and this is used as the photo detection section. Further, the graphic pattern 100 of light shield using aluminum is placed on it via the insulation layer. After that, the unit cells 11 to 90 being the photo detection section are in depletion, and carrier is caused to the cells not covered with the pattern layer 100 by emitting light in the wave length band sensed with the device. Thus, the state of the cells causing carriers and not causing them as respectively shown in the solid and dotted lines is transferred to the detector via the transfer section, displaying numeral or graph sectioned in white and black. Then, the display of high density is made possible by selecting the number of cells.
