Abstract:
To propose a lightweight and inexpensive new separator capable of meeting such requirements that a separator, which is a core component of a power generation cell that is a component of a fuel battery, is a partition wall of the power generation cell and also plays the roll of forming and maintaining a flow path to supply fuel gas and oxygen in air, collecting generated weak current, conducting it and drawing it to the outside, so that good conductivity is essential, and at the same time, long life and tough corrosion resistance to withstand a corrosive environment inside the cell are required.SOLUTION: A separator product for a power generation cell and a manufacturing method thereof are developed. The separator product is manufactured by: subjecting graphite powder grains to compaction processing; preparing a preformed product that is a three-dimensional porous compact that serves as the skeleton of a target separator; impregnating the preformed product with molten metal of pure aluminum to prepare a pre-product of the target separator; further oxidizing the entire of the pre-product and oxidizing the pure aluminum exposed on a surface to form an aluminum oxide film; and corrosion-resistant coating all surfaces together with the exposed graphite powder grains.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
