Abstract:
Diffraction grating coupler (100, 200, 300, 400) which comprises an optical waveguide (101, 201, 301, 401) having a first surface (102, 202, 302, 402) and a second surface (103, 203, 303, 403) opposing to said first surface (102, 202, 302, 402), said optical waveguide (101, 201, 301, 401) having a grating (110, 210, 310, 410) on one of said surfaces. It further comprises an elastic polymer film (120, 220, 320, 420) deposited on and attached to said optical waveguide (101, 201, 301, 401), said elastic polymer film (120, 220, 320, 420) partially surrounding said optical waveguide (101, 201, 301, 401) and leaving one of said two surfaces of said optical waveguide (101, 201, 301, 401) open, the diffraction grating coupler (100, 200, 300, 400) thus being mountable on a specimen (230, 330, 430) by attaching said elastic polymer film (120, 220, 320, 420) to said specimen (230, 330, 430).
