To provide a gravure printing device and a printing method enabling stable application of ink during a long-time operation from the start to the end of application.
A gravure printing device includes a doctor blade pressed against a gravure roll surface to scrape off ink, a doctor holder for holding the doctor blade, and a doctor blade pressure portion for pressing the doctor blade against the gravure roll. The gravure printing device further includes doctor blade position measurement means, doctor blade position control means, and doctor blade position adjusting means. The doctor blade position measuring means measures the contact position between the gravure roll and the doctor blade. The doctor blade position control means drives the doctor blade position adjustment means on the basis of results of measuring the contact position, to adjust the doctor blade to a desired position.
