To provide a printing method which does not develop printing nonuniformity in a screen tint part, even at a high printing speed by a gravure publication printing machine, and a gravure publication printing machine.
This printing method is for printing an image on a paper base 3 at 250 or longer m/min printing speed by the gravure publication printing machine. In this method, the distance L between a plate surface contacting position p of an edge of a doctor blade 7 to a gravure plate cylinder 1 and the contact center 4 between a printing paper surface and the gravure plate cylinder 1, is set to within the range of 20 to 60 mm. The gravure publication printing machine is operated in the way the distance L from a position p where the edge of the doctor blade 7 comes into contact with the plate surface of the gravure plate cylinder 1, to the contact center 4, is set to within the range of 20 to 60 mm or to within the angle range β of 7.2 to 21.6° with a vertical line passing through the axial center of the plate cylinder.
