Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust data of a gray object to have a same density by applying linear conversion to one of data D3, D2 so that shadow points of image data D1, D2, D3 and highlight points are equal to each other basically in the matching of shadow and highlight.
SOLUTION: R, G, B color filters of color separate units 33R, G, B are sequentially inserted into an optical path from a light source 31. An image is read by a CCD 52 for each occasion. Then digital image data D1, D2, D3 representing each color density for each picture element are obtained from an A/D converter 53. The data D1, D2, D3 denote red, green and blue density respectively. Shadow points D1s, D2s, D3s of the image data D1, D2, D3 are made identical to each other and highlight points D1h, D2h, D3h are made identical to each other. That is, one of the image data D1, D2 and one of the data D3, D2 are linearly converted. Moreover, (D17, D2') are obtained from picture element data D1', D2', D3' of low saturation picture elements and gray color is adjusted.
