Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gray cast iron for a cylinder liner, capable of maintaining excellent fatigue strength and thermal shock property by adjusting the content of components constituting a molten iron for producing gray cast iron, and a method for manufacturing a cylinder liner using the gray cast iron.SOLUTION: The gray cast iron for a cylinder liner in one embodiment of the present invention contains C:3.2 to 3.7 wt%, Si:2.0 to 2.8 wt%, Mn:0.50 to 1.0 wt%, P:0.20 wt% or less (excluding 0 wt%), S:0.10wt% or less (excluding 0 wt%), Cr:0.50 wt% or less (excluding 0 wt%), Cu:0.20 to 0.80 wt%, Mo:0.10 to 0.40 wt% and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and satisfies the following formula 1. 0.8≤Cu+1.5Cr+1.2Mo≤1.5 [Formula 1], where Cu, Cr and Mo mean content of each element (wt%).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
