PURPOSE: To zero a defective straightness on the traverse grinding end of a work.

CONSTITUTION: The grinding apparatus for traverse grinding of a work W is provided with a control means 120 adapted to control at least one of a drive means 100 for a work table 14, a main shaft supporter 16, a wheel spindle stock 12, and a drive means 110, thereby varying at least one of the table feed speed, work rotation speed, grinding wheel peripheral speed, and cut depth so as to cause the grinding resistance to become constant through a change in a grinding width of grinding wheel participating in the work grinding operation.
