To provide an automated grinding device for a rotary cutter which is not complicated and does not require an additional control device etc. while using a relatively inexpensive AC motor or DC motor.
The grinding device for the rotary cutter 5 includes: a cutter holding part 1 holding the rotary cutter 5 and rocked parallel to the rotary cutter 5; a grinder holding part 2 holding a grinder 6 with a grinding wheel 61 facing the rotary cutter 5; and a rachet lever 3 engaged with a back face of a tooth 53 of the rotary cutter 5. In the cutter holding part 1, a cam orbit 141 is provided in a position separated from a rocking shaft 12, and an electric motor 7 having a rotating shaft 711 located on the inner side of the cam orbit 141 is fixed to a base 4. A rotating arm 71 mounted to the rotating shaft 711 is rotated parallel to the cam orbit 141, so as to engage with the cam orbit 141.
