While the grinding wheel 3 is mounted on a grinding spindle 3a, and the grinding wheel 3 is moved in the axial direction along the tapered surface Wa, the corner Wc and the straight surface Wb of the workpiece W, the tapered surface Wa is ground by using a first unit grinding wheel surface 30a of the grinding wheel 3, the corner Wc is ground by using the corner 31 of the grinding wheel 3, and the straight surface Wb is ground by using a second unit grinding wheel surface 30b of the grinding wheel 3.
