Abstract:
A grinding station for a grinding machine, suitable for chamferring or grooving an opthalmic lens, comprises a casing (10) and a grinding wheel (12) rotatably disposed in the casing (10). The wheel (12) operates in a working area (11) at the rear of the machine accessible from the outside of the casing (10). The working area (11) is on the opposite side of the rotation axis (A) of the grinding wheel (12) to the area (AV) at the front of the machine from which a machine operator has access to the working area (11). A coolant spray (29) adapted to form a film of fluid on the wheel (12) is disposed well away from the working area (11), and deflectors (33) for the coolant are provided in the casing (10), in order to reduce splashing and mist formation in the working area.
