Title:
GRINDING OF WOUND METALLIC CARD WIRE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61197153
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove the worn portions of the points of a metallic card wire and reducing the area of the surfaces of the points, improving fabric carding property of the card wire by grinding the side surfaces of the points after grinding the points.

CONSTITUTION: The surface 1a of the point of a wholly metallic card wire 1 wound around a cylinder is ground to a flat by a grinding wheel 12 of a card wire point grinder. Although the ridges surrounding the flat surface 1a of the point of card wire is sharp, the ridges that continue to the former ones are left worn. Therefore, cutting edge members 14 swingably mounted on a shaft 15 provided in a given position are arranged such that each of the cutting edge members 14 is disposed in the gaps produced in the spirally wound metallic wire 1 so as to press the wire. The metallic wire 1 is moved while being rotated in the direction shown by an arrow C and reverse to the direction in which the grinding of the point of card wire progresses, whereby the side surfaces 1c and 1d of the points of the card wire are ground to be removed.
