Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping device capable of miniaturizing its whole device, showing sufficient response to gripping/releasing operation and achieving great energy efficiency as well.
SOLUTION: A gripping device 1A has a coil 10 to form a magnetic field changing with the flow of a current and a fluid storage member 20 in which magnetic fluid is filled. When a current flows in a coil 10, the magnetic fluid is moved toward a magnetic field formed by the coil 10 and the cylindrical part 21 of the fluid storage member 20 is displaced toward the magnetic field to be directed to the axial direction of the coil. The cylindrical part 21 resists the spring force of an elastic member 35 to rotationally move a movable finger 33 to a fixed finger 32.
