To obtain a guard fence suitable for arrangement of a guard fence at a road shoulder part of an inlet to the medial strip and the frontage road of a freeway by a method wherein a fence part for absorption of an impact is joined with the end part of a guide fence body in a manner to be slidable in the direction of the length of a fence body part.
A guard fence is divided into a guard fence body part 1 and a fence part 2 for absorption of an impact and the fence part 2 for absorption of an impact joined with the end part of the guard fence body part 1 in a manner to be slidable in the direction of the length of the guard fence body 1. For that purpose a slide groove 2a in the direction of the length of the guard fence body part 1 is formed in the fence part 2 for absorption of an impact, and a pin 1a for joining erected on the guard fence body 1 is slidably and loosely fitted in the slide groove 2a. This constitution, when a vehicle collides with the fence part 2 for absorption of an impact, moves backward the fence part 2 for absorption of an impact in the direction of the length of the guard fence body part 1 by an impact force during collision and absorbs a high initial shock.
