Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for cleaning a simple and lightweight guide roller, which simplify a mechanism for allowing the guide roller to make a motion different from the traveling of a printing web. SOLUTION: A partially untoothed gear 40, whose teeth are partially lacked, is mounted on a driving means; and a subsidiary gear 36, which meshes with the gear 40, is mounted on the guide roller 20. The gear 40 is rotated by the driving means; the gears 40 and 36 are engaged with each other so as to transfer a driving force to the guide roller 20; and the guide roller 20 is cleaned by allowing the guide roller 20 to make the motion different from the traveling of the printing web. Additionally, when an untoothed part of the gear 40 reaches a meshing part, the teeth of the gears 40 and 36 are prevented from meshing with one another, and the gear 36 is freely rotated without undergoing the transfer of the driving force from the driving means.
