When the general user desiring a path guide enters a path guide request with a destination set thereto to a mobile communication terminal 40 and the terminal 40 transmits the request to a data processing unit 20, the data processing unit 20 detects the current position of the mobile communication terminal 40 on the basis of received data, generates data denoting the path guide up to the destination and returns the path guide to the mobile communication terminal 40. Thus, the guide service method can provide a newest guide to the general user at all times without the need for loading a disk medium such as a CD-ROM to the mobile communication terminal 40, without the need for mounting an image processing unit with high performance and needing much power consumption on the mobile communication terminal 40, and without the need for upgrading the version of the mobile communication terminal 40.
