Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method whereby Haemophilus influenzae can be easily and accurately detected by primary isolation culture and a medium to be used in the method. More specifically, provided is a method for screening H. influenzae, said method being characterized by comprising inoculating a specimen into a medium which comprises at least the following (a), (b), (c) and (d) and in which H. influenzae can grow, and, after culturing, confirming the bacterial colony color and the presence or absence of hemolysis: (a) horse blood; (b) β-NAD or a phosphate thereof; (c) an antibacterial agent; and (d) a color developing component capable of developing different colors in a colony of H. influenzae and in a colony of Haemophilus parainfluenzae.
