To provide a hot rolling method of a high Si steel, with which the stripping property of Si scale generated on the high Si steel can be improved, without requiring the large thermal energy, an equipment cost and a running cost for a specific descaler, and further, good workability is obtained, in the hot rolling line.
In the hot rolling method, with which a steel slab 11 containing 0.1-4.0 wt.% Si is rough rolled in a roughing mill 14 after heating in a heating furnace 13 and further, finish rolled in a finishing mill 16, the heating temperature of the steel slab 11 in the heating furnace 13 is regulated to not higher than the melting point of compound of iron oxide and Si oxide contained in the steel slab 11. Further, the steel slab 11 after rough rolling is heated to the temperature required for finish rolling in the finishing mill 16, in a heating device 15 arranged between the roughing mill 14 and the finishing mill 16 and thereby, the stripping property of the Si scale generated on the surface of the steel slab 11 can be improved.
