To provide a hair conditioning composition imparting slippery feeling as close as wetted with oil, moisture feeling, softness, smoothness, and affluent feeling to hair after use, and having excellent conditioning effect without hardening hair even after a long time.

The hair conditioning composition comprises the following constituents (a)-(d); 0.01-20 mass% of a silicone-branched alkyl polyglyceryl co-modified silicone (a), not less than 20 mass% of a polyhydric alcohol (b) having at least three hydroxy groups in a molecule, 0.1-20 mass% of a high molecular weight silicone (c) having viscosity at 25°C of not less than 10,000 mPa s, and 0.1-8 mass% of a cationic surface active agent (d), blended all together.
