PURPOSE: To prepare the skin-softening cosmetic not tacky on employment and capable of imparting flexibility to skin.
CONSTITUTION: The skin-softening cosmetic contains (A) 0.01-30wt.%, preferably 0.01-20wt.%, of a carboxylic acid having two or more carboxyl groups or its salt, preferably succinic acid or citric acid, (B) 0.0001-19wt.%, preferably 0.0045-19.8wt.%, of a betaine, preferably glycine betaine, and (C) a basic amino acid or its salt, preferably arginine, in an amount of 0.01-100 pts.wt., preferably 0.05-30 pts.wt., per pt.wt. of the component A, and is controlled at a pH of preferably 3-8, especially 4-7. The cosmetic may, if necessary, further be compounded with one or more arbitrary components usually used for cosmetics, quasidrugs, medicines, etc.
