PURPOSE: To provide a self-extinguishing resin composition having greatly improved heat stability and excellent resistance to heat and shock, by adding an organotin stabilizer and a metallic salt of hydroxystearic acid to a blend of a rubber-reinforced styrenic resin and a vinyl chloride polymer.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 30W70pts.wt. of a rubber-reinforced styrenic resin and (B) 70W30pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride polymer constitute a blend. 100pts.wt. of the blend is added with (C) 2.0W6.0pts.wt. of an organotin stabilizer and (D) 0.1W 2.0pts.wt. of a metallic salt of hydroxystearic acid. As the above rubber-reinforced styrenic resin, as ABS resin is preferably used in view of its workability, shock resistance and the appearance of formed products. Vinyl chloride polymer used includes a polyvinyl chloride resin, a vinyl chloride propylene copolymer, a chlorinated polyethylene, and a chlorinated polyvinyl chloride.
