Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a halogenating agent capable of halogenating a hydroxyl group in a stable yield in a high purity and in a short reaction time without producing by-products in which one or more sites except the target hydroxyl group are halogenated, by using a specific dialkylhaloiminium compound.
SOLUTION: A di(2-4C)alkylhaloiminium compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are each ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl or the like; X is chlorine or bromine; Y is chloride ion, bromide ion, dichlorophosphate ion or the like). The compound of formula I is used as a halogenating agent. The compound of formula I can be produced, for example, by reacting a dialkylformamide or diarylformamide of formula II with a halogenating agent in an organic solvent. The halogenating agent of formula I is allowed to act on a hydroxyl group-containing compound of the formula: A-OH (A is an alkyl or the like) in an organic solvent to obtain the halide compound of the formula: A-X.
