Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable a wide range of halogenation in specified solvents without using carbon tetrachloride having toxicity and volatility.
CONSTITUTION: Halogenation reactions are carried out in solvents that are compds. of formula I (R is F, Cl, CF3, CF2H, CF2Cl, CHFCF3, CF2CF3 or CFClF3; Hal is F or Cl; (a) is 0-3; (b) is 0-2; (c) is 0 or 1-3 when Hal is F, (c) is 0 or 1 when Hal is Cl; a=b≠0 and a+b+c≤6]. This method is suitable for the chlorination of hydrocarbon, halogenohydrocarbon, alkyl ether and/or halogenoalkyl type hydrogen atoms of an arom. compd. contained in a side chain. Chlorine-free bistrifluoromethylpolyfluoroalkoxybenzenes of formula II (R' is F, CF3, CF2H, CHFCF3 or CF2CF3) included in the compds. of the formula I are new compds.
