PURPOSE: To electrically detect the hand positions of an analog watch and provide the function close to that of a digital watch by using an electrical element whose electrical value changes with the positions of the hand and a converter for converting its electrical value to digital quantity.

CONSTITUTION: This is the circuit of converting the change quantity of an electrical element 7 when the electrical value of the electrical element 7 changes in cooperation with the hand 1 indicating the time, a hand wheel 4 and a position detecting gear 5 to digital position data, wherein a variable resistor or variable condenser is used for this electrical element 7. For example, a variable resistor 13 is used as the electrical element 7 and a monostable multi circuit 100 which charges a variable condenser 11 is used as a position sensor and the first converter 200 consisting of said circuit and a counter 15 which meansures the output thereof is provided. The count contents of the counter 15 are converted to ROM 16 being a second converter, thus the digital quantity corresponding to the rotating angle of the hand wheel 4 may be obtained from the ROM output terminal.
