Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the conventional handbrake device for railway cars so as to prevent the tension loss of the chain of a handbrake, irrespective of such condition causing a slack in the handbrake device.
CONSTITUTION: A constant tensioning device 1 in the form of an elastic member is interposed between a railway car hand wheel 6 and a handbrake chain 3 of a railway car brake device 5 to maintain tension in the handbrake chain 3 according to the applied handbrake force, irrespective of such shifting of a railway car 4 relative to the carriage of the railway car 4 which would cause undesired loss of the handbrake force as slack is developed in the handbrake chain 3.
