PURPOSE: To achieve the automation of a series of works for attaching a handle to a bag.

CONSTITUTION: A handle attaching device is equipped with a send-out mechanism 1 having a slide lever 2 sending out handles A one at a time in a suspended state, the curving frame mechanism 10 positioned in front of the mechanism 1 and applying the sent-out handle A to a curving mold member 13 under pressure and curving the handle A from the outside thereof into an almost horizontal U-shape along the upper and rear surfaces 11, 12 of the curving mold member 13 and a relay mechanism 20 converting the posture of the handle A curved by the mechanism 10 to a downward almost U-shape posture. A setting mechanism 30 receiving the handle A held to the posture after conversion from the mechanism 20 to transfer the same to the opening part of a bag B and further lowering the handle A to set the fitting pieces D provided to both ends of the handle to the edge of the opening part of the bag and a pressure mechanism 40 fitting the fitting pieces D in the attaching hole formed to the edge of the opening part are provided.
