To provide a push-pull type handle lock which can unlock a latch through a pushing or pulling operation of a handle toward a door opening direction for making the door openable as it is, and is applicable to an outside opening door and an inside opening door, and in addition for a longitudinal and a lateral type handle through one handle lock without the occurrence of trouble on prevention of crimes.

A handle lock is equipped with a latch lock provided on the opened side of a door 1; seats 12, 13 for attaching a handle longitudinally or laterally onto inside and outside door faces; a handle 11b supported on each of seats 12, 13 so as to be push-pullable; and a spring to hold the handle 11b at an intermediate position between push-pulling processes. The handle lock is moreover provided with an actuation mechanism which functions in such a way as when the longitudinal handle has been attached by a pushing operation and a pulling operation of the handle 11b from the intermediate position, an operation member for the longitudinal handle is actuated, and when the lateral handle has been attached, an operation member for the lateral handle is actuated, and the latch bolt 16 of a latch lock can thereby be moved backward.
