To provide a handle for opening and closing a Shoji screen provided with not only an assist function so as to easily open a heavy Shoji screen even by a little force but also an auxiliary lock function.
A handle 1A for opening and closing a Shoji screen is constituted of a pedestal 2 fixed to a window frame side stile of a sliding screen, a lever handle 3 fitted to the pedestal 2, movably pivoted within a specified angle, a kick-off member 4 fixed to the shaft 3a of the lever handle 3, projected toward a window frame side by the moving action of the lever handle 3 caused by opening operation of the sliding screen and assisting the opening motion of the screen by the kickoff reaction of the window frame, and a spring member 5 urging the kickoff member 4 in the rotary direction of the anti-projection side. Moreover, a rotatable locking hook piece 6 is provided in the lever handle 3, and a receive piece 8 whose locking hook piece 6 is freely detachable from the window frame is fixed to form the auxiliary lock.
