PURPOSE: To execute a display in accordance with an attribute of a character and a symbol, by providing a data part of the character and the symbol and a mark part containing a timing part, on an input form, and detecting the mark corresponding to the attribute which has been mentioned in the mark part.
CONSTITUTION: A timing mark and an attribute mark of an input form 1 are read by a mark detecting part 3, and a signal corresponding to an attribute is outputted to a character code output part 6. A character segmenting part 4 segments the data of the character and the symbol which have been mentioned in a data part, sends its pattern to a recognizing part 5, collates it with a standard pattern, recognizes it, and applies a character number corresponding to the pattern, to the output part 6. The output part 6 converts the character number to a character code by a character number table, inputs it to a host computer 8 together with the code corresponding to the attribute and displays it on a CRT display 9. In this way, the operation of the keyboard is reduced, and a display corresponding to the attribute of the character and the symbol can be executed.
