Abstract:
PURPOSE: To process a radioactive waste liquid from washing which is produced by an atomic power plant, nuclear fuel reprocessing plant, or any radioactive nuclear species handling facility, in such a manner that the waste liquid is turned safe and the amount of generated waste is minimized.
CONSTITUTION: A waste liquid from washing where a detergent is used which chiefly contains a nonionic series surface active agent and a builder of inorganic material, is concentrated by an evaporative concentrator 3, and the concentrated liquid is fed into a rotary centrifugal dryer of thin film type to be dried and pulverized, and the resultant dry powder is put in a baking process. Use of this detergent allows reducing foaming at the time of concentration and also easy drying and pulverizing of the concentrated liquid. Further it is possible to make baking stably and safely and without giving ill influence upon an incinerator 6 at the time of baking. Thus the waste liquid from washing can be treated conveniently and safely, and the final amount of waste material can be minimized.
