Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain health food of high effectiveness, containing β-sitosterol, ferulic acid, triterpenoids and others, by extraction of a kind of sweet potatoes originating from Brazil.
CONSTITUTION: A kind of sweet potato originating from Brazil, IPOMEA Batatas, R, var, SIMON is extracted with chloroform or methanol and the extract is pulverized or solidified to give a health food containing β-sitosterol, feluric acid esters higher fatty alcohol such as octacosanol, ferulic acid and triterpenoids. Preferably the extract from root stems and that from foliage parts are mixed at a ratio of 3/7W7/3.
