To provide a heat decomposition treatment method and a heat decomposition treatment apparatus which suppress the amount of trace components contained in a heat-decomposed gas without making facilities complicated and oversized and while inhibiting the increase in operating cost.
The heat decomposition treatment method comprises heat-decomposing a treating object 1 in a heat decomposition furnace 4, introducing the formed heat-decomposed gas 5 into a gas reformer 8 together with an oxidizing agent 7 such as air and oxygen to obtain, by partial oxidation, a reformed gas containing a low-molecular-weight combustible gas as the major component, and by adding any one of an iron compound 14 and a calcium compound to the gas 5 to be reformed, the amount of trace components present in the heat-decomposed gas can be effectively suppressed.
